I'm sure that many of you have probably heard about the recent massacre that occurred in our City,
now known as the
Lester Street Massacre. It was no surprise to learn that the slain adults of this vicious act all
lived their lives in a manner that most likely caused their demise. I would be very surprised if we were to discover that this was just a random act of
violence.
This crime was both shocking and horrific; and while I agree that no one deserves to die like that, I'm
finding it very difficult to feel sorry for them. I honestly believe that they brought it on themselves, with the lives that they "chose" to
lead.
To me, what is unforgivable is that the poor life choices, made by these adults, placed their
children in harms way; and in doing that, these innocent children were made to suffer unnecessary and unimaginable cruelty.
THAT is the true crime!
I believe in fate. I believe that God has a plan for us all and that there is a date written down in His
"Great Book" that determines when he plans to call us Home.
That being said, I also believe that He gave us the freedom of choice and with that freedom comes
responsibility for our actions.
In our journey through life we all come upon "forks" in the road and, depending on the path we
choose to take, our journey may either be smooth or difficult. If we pick the wrong path too many times, we get lost and
may not be able to find our way back to the path to God laid out for us. We no longer learn the lessons that we are here to learn and our choices could
ultimately lead to an untimely death.
What is this world coming to???
People ask this question every time something this tragic occurs. I
don't know the answer but here are my thoughts on the subject.
It's coming to an end. It may not be this year. It may not be five years from now. It may not even be in my
lifetime or the lifetime of my children, maybe not even of my children's children (only God knows the exact time). But it is coming and I'm
living in the City that has a first class ticket to Hell, and our Mayor is the one driving the bus that's going to deliver us there.
I would LOVE to get out of this city but I, like many others, am not able to just pack up and move because I
don't like what is happening.
Besides, would moving really solve anything?? I don't think so. Giving up my career, uprooting my family
and moving away from everyone that I know and love is not going to solve anything. Crime is all around us. It's everywhere; there's no escaping
it.
The best we can do is live our lives in a way that is pleasing to God. If you live your life right, you can
take comfort in knowing that, when you leave this Earth, your sole will be in Heaven with our Lord. There will be no more of this pain and suffering that we
must endure while on this journey we call life.
Teach our children right from wrong. Instill in them a sense of value and self worth. Help them learn
responsibility. Show them that there are consequences for their actions. They are our future. If we aren't teaching them how to grow up and become
productive members of society, our world will only go from bad to worse.
I pray that the killer(s) of this senseless crime are found and brought to justice. But until and if
that happens, I pray that God will wrap his arms around my family and friends to watch out for and protect us from the violence that surrounds us; keeping us
safe from any hurt, harm, foul, or evil. Amen.

It's sad when they were killed on Saturday and not found until Monday because people heard the gunshots but commented that they didn't think anything
of it because hearing gunshots isn't anything new to them and when you hear them, you go the otherway or get in your house. Where is the protection in this
community? Why don't the neighbors check on each other after hearing such? Is everyone THAT scared? If so, I repeat, where is the protection? I agree, I
feel like these people's way of life lead to their demise. But TWO DAYS and the gunshots were HEARD? WTF!?

Yeah, makes you feel real comfortable doesn't it?? To know that someone could come into your house and shoot the entire family and the people around you
would actually hear the gunshots but no one would bother to report it. Very comforting.

Shaina it is that way here, at my house. We hear gunshots EVERY single night here. Automatic gunfire is nothing here. Unless it happens right next door to you,
you don't know where the gunfire is coming from. It's just loud. You can point the police (Steve, which I have done) in a general direction, but
honestly that does no good either. I would be calling them hourly, and sometimes once every half hour! You better believe that when I hear gunshots I am not
walking my butt outside to see who or where it is coming from. I am not risking my life just to see. These people around here are in a dog eat dog world. They
deserve the world not because they have earned it, but because they are due (in their eyes)! It is a sad, sad reality, but one that I have been forced to see
and live with!
The suicide assault that happened a few months back, that was almost the suicide murder, was 2 doors down from my house! Scary...YEAH! This is not a great neighborhood, but for right now it is home. Maybe it is the "Cops life" in me now, but in all honesty I too think this family brought this on themselves. I have no sympathy for the adults, but I do have sympathy for the innocent children though. I think it is disgusting that in this day and age someone like Thaddeous Matthews thinks that it is ok to get into a funeral home, snap pictures of a murder victim and post her pictures of her corpse on a public website with no forewarning of the grotesque pictures. It was obvious that she was in shock and sickening to think that her family had to see her that way! If that had been my brother I would have sued his ass off!!! This is the reality of the city we live in. The reality of the mindset of a lot of people in this city. If these people start sticking there neck out they won't last long in the projects or in the ghetto. It is a vicious cycle, but one that won't end!

Well said Sara, and it's the same way here too. I hear gunshots almost every night and I don't call the police because I can't ever tell where they
are coming from. It's so sad to admit that; but, like you, if I called them every time I heard the gunshots I would be calling them all the time.
And don't let it be New Years or the Fourth of July - OMG!!! Someone could shoot an entire neighborhood and no one would think anything about it with all the gunfire we've got going on. PS. LOVE the Sponge Bob Siggy!!! ![]()

What I don't understand is if there are areas where shots are heard everynight why there isn't police patrolling those areas more or SOMETHING. I know
that no one wants their family member to be in those areas if they are on the force but it's part of their job too - to serve and protect, right? I'm
not pointing fingers at the cops themselves. I admire their bravery. I think this goes deeper than that. More where there marching orders come from, I guess.

Not really! The police are all over down here, but they can't be everywhere all of the time. I am going to go meet some friends for dinner but I will come
back and try to explain more after dinner. There really is a lot more that goes into it. We don't have enough Cops to take care of all of the crime and
because of "Cival Rights" and "Public Safety" they can't apprehend the criminals when they catch them because it is wrong!

Shaina,
I'll just say this before Sara comes back with further explanation about police presence in these areas. Part of the problem is that there are too many areas like this throughout the city and there aren't enough police to cover them all. But, if you want to get to the root of the problem all you have to do is look at who our mayor is. He is destroying this city!! ![]()

I agree. There are such stupid, naive and scared women out there that continue to do that shit.
Two colors are a race issue everywhere no matter what the person did. Etc. It's crazy. I wish there could be something more done about those issues. It stinks. I comment the police for what they do. I couldn't do it.

Any job that involves dealing with the public will require you to put up with some rude people, but to add danger to the mix and you have some very brave men
and women who must love their job; otherwise, why else would the put up with all of that?? I too commend them for what they do every day.
Unfortunately, the racial divide in this city will only get stronger the longer that joke of a mayor is in office. He makes sure to keep it alive and thriving. ![]()

Oh how I wish our mayor would decide to take a long swim in the Mississippi! He doesn't have time when he is always blowing our money though. One day I

Man, that sucks! In Oklahoma, if you feel that your life is in danger you can blow the other person away and not get in trouble, and you never hear about the
cops getting into trouble for defending themselves or protecting other people from the scumbags. Hey, we have the death penalty and we use it. You kill someone
in Oklahoma, and we will kill you back.

I wish we could Yvette! HAHAHA!
Yeah it sucks here Brian! TN just passed a law where if someone is on your property and your life is in danger you can shoot them. Before they had to be inside your house before you were allowed to do anything. We have the death penalty here as well, we just don't use it.

There is a ray of hope. Your mayor's term will end and he will be voted out of office. He will be gone. But then he will move to Baltimore and become
mayor for several terms. And then, when he's served three or four terms as mayor, he will become Governor for two terms. Then when he's all done with
that, he'll go back to being mayor of Baltimore again.
It's a tradition!
