Is the White House haunted |

Hi, I've heard a few vague stories about "old" ghosts in the White House, even though I live in Australia, but I'm
just wondering has anything been documented???? Regards, Kettle/Jo.
You may as well do it today, because tomorrow may never come and you're a long time looking at the lid!

Kettle I have not researched it a lot, but there are rumors about a black cat and Abe Lincoln sightings. Ha its on one of my dream places to investigate. I am
sure its very haunted.

I've read that the White House has numerous ghosts. If I'm remembering correctly, the black cat is rarely seen, but when it IS seen it's usually
in the basement and precedes some disaster.

The black cat must have been doing the chicken dance the day before Bush was elected.

Oh yeah. That was the ultimate disaster, no doubt about it.

I also heard that Abe Lincoln's ghost was seen when he knocked on a woman's door that was staying overnight at the White House. I think the show said
that it used to be his room? She opened the door and found him standing there. That same show mentioned the black cat seen guarding a tomb in the basement.
I think it was America's Most Haunted.... Lori |

I haven't put a whole lot of research into it, but I remember hearing that Andrew Jackson's laughter is supposedly heard in one of the bedrooms, as
well. How modern day people know it's his particular laughter, I have no idea.
Other notable ghost stories involve Abigail Adams and and Dolley Madison. |

I do recall reading a story where the white house, prior to its renovation sometime last century, all sorts of stuff was going on. I think the renovation took
place in the 40's or 60's, anyway, upon completion of the renovation. Alot of the unexplained went away, one that calmed down was Abraham Lincoln
walking the halls. Say he just stopped.

Hans Holzer, in his book Ghosts, talks about his many attempts to get inside the White House to do an investigation. He never was allowed to do it.

On the official White House website you can find the stories about the hauntings at the White House. |
