Hi, I was just wondering, have you all, has anyone researched their own home, who settled it, lived on it and so forth for
future generations? I was inspired to ask this after another letter about a haunting in London and realising just how OLD houses there could be. Houses in
Australia generally are from about 1800 onward, what about in America?? Are you in an old or new house, and if it's an new one what was there before?
I'm going to try and start finding out what was with mine, and see where that leads me. Regards, Kettle/Jo.

You may as well do it today, because tomorrow may never come and you're a long time looking at the lid!

Hey Kettle. I am moving this so that its in the right area where people will notice it better. This is definitely an important part of paranormal research and
one that commonly gets forgotten. The AZ team is blessed to have a wonderful historian. I will get him on here to explain what he does and how he works his
magic. This is a great question.

It is possible for anyone to research their own home to see what sort of history exists there. If you live in a typical suburban housing development, you can
go down to your county's planning and zoning commission office with your address and they can provide to you a book and page number for your property area
which will tell you pertinent information about soil characteristics (some paranormal activity is linked to certain soils) and archaeological data that was
identified before your home was built. You may also be able to contact the title company for your home and request a title search to see who owned your house
or land before you. If all else fails or is unavailable to you, it is best to locate a hall of records or a historical preservation society in your area and
look for historical maps of your region or simply ask about the general history of your area. It is quite difficult to accurately trace history before 1800
since many records were not accurately kept in rural areas of the US.
